Sweeney Todd

“In the outdoors, there is little separation between the audience and the actors… making “Sweeney Todd” not just a production, but an experience.”

Grind Arts' premiere production of SWEENEY TODD, an immersive theatrical experience taking place in the Jadwin Gym Loading Dock at Princeton University (2014). Music and Lyrics by Stephen Sondheim Book by Hugh Wheeler Directed by Eamon Foley

Sweeney Todd, Grind Arts Company’s premiere production, took place in the Jadwin Gym loading dock: an outdoor recycling plant on the outskirts of Princeton campus. The industrial location lent itself to an exploration of labor-class mentality, and how Sweeney could be revered as a proletariat hero. The production was funded by a crowd-sourcing campaign, and its success initiated an arts renaissance throughout Princeton University.
